Work from Home option, QR fuel among measures discussed by President..!!!

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today held discussions with ministry secretaries and heads of institutions on maintaining essential services amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.

The meeting, held at the Presidential Secretariat, focused on challenges that could arise in ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of key sectors including health, education, industry, agriculture, and fisheries.

During the discussion, ministry secretaries briefed the President on the current fuel requirements of their respective sectors.

President Dissanayake instructed officials to explore the possibility of maintaining regional fuel reserves for critical sectors such as healthcare. He also advised officials to further study the feasibility of implementing work-from-home arrangements where possible.

Noting that future developments remain uncertain, the President stressed the need for preparedness to face any emerging situation and highlighted the importance of further strengthening the digital QR-based fuel management system.

He also instructed officials to promptly identify and rectify existing shortcomings in the digital code system and to remain under continuous monitoring of developments.

The President said that instead of making isolated decisions by sector, authorities must take a coordinated approach, identify alternative mechanisms to address emerging challenges, and act swiftly with mutual understanding. (Newswire)
